Symposium: "Imperial Ambassadors in Madrid and their residences in the Czech Lands. Cultural and Social transfer 16th-19th centuries".

Next Thursday, 15th november, this symposium will be held at the assembly hall of the Centre for Human and Social Sciences belonging to the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CCHS-CSIC). Then, at the same Centre, the exhibition The Nobles of the Czech Lands in European Diplomacy will be opened.

Dr. Oskar Jacek Rojewski gets the position of Assistant Lecturer at the University of Silisia.

Conference: "The Merry King: Palaces, Gardens, Seas and Rivers as court settings (16th-19th centuries).

This conference, whose registration is for free, will be held at the Jaume I University, in Castellón, from 26 to 28 november 2018. Among the interesting contributions by the speakers, which are focused on different types of court celebrations, will be those by our Director, Dr. Ana Diéguez-Rodríguez and also by our collaborator, Dr. Oscar J. Rojewski.

Ceremonial at the Court of Brussels in the 17th century. The manuscripts by Francisco Alonso Lozano has just been published. Throughout this book, José Eloy Hortal Muñoz, Pierre-François Pirlet and África Espíldora García delve into the knowledge of the Court of Brussels during the 17th century by means of several documents related to its members.

Exhibition: The Charterhouse of Bruges. Jan van Eyck, Petrus Christus, and Jan Vos.

The two paintings commissioned to Jan Van Eyck -Virgin and Child with St. Barbara, St. Elizabeth, and Jan Vos-, as well as to Petrus Christus -Virgin and Child with St. Barbara and Jan Vos- by the Carthusian monk Jan Vos during his tenure as prior of the Carthusian monastery of Bruges have been gathered, for the second time in their history, by The Frick Collection, in New York. Both works of art will be on show at this Museum until the 13th January 2019.
