Research grant

The Faculty of “Ciências Sociais e Humanas” of the University of Lisbon (NOVA FCSH), has asked us to share this open call for the research grant into the history and work of the Flemish painter Antonio de Holanda, settled in Portugal, and the “Genealogy of the Counts of Feira” kept in the National Archive of Torre do Tombo, in Portugal.

Application deadline: 16 November 2023 – 23:59 (Europe/Lisbon).

Launch Ceremony for the Book: 'Lujos de comodidad', by Carmen Abad Zardoya

Next Tuesday, 24 October, Carmen Abad Zardoya of the University of Zaragoza and member of the Editorial Board of the Philostrato. Journal of History and Art, will launch her book ‘Lujos de comodidad. Léxico del espacio doméstico en las fuentes notariales del largo siglo XVIII’.

The event will take place at the National Museum of Decorative Arts in Madrid (C/ Montalbán, 12) at 7pm.

The definitive programme of the International Conference Court culture exchanges between the Iberian Peninsula and the Habsburg Netherlands (15th-16th Centuries) is already available. This Conference is organized in collaboration among the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (Madrid), the University of Silesia in Katowice (Poland) and the Instituto Moll.

This conference will be held from 25th to 27th October 2023 in Aranjuez. The entire event will be a live webcast (Teams).

The Epiarte Collection travels to Italy

Three paintings from the Epiarte Collection, The Family of Darius before Alexander by Jan Ykens (inv. no. 3715), Bathsheba at Her Bath by David Teniers II (inv. no. 631) and Pan and Syrinx by Jacob Jordaens (inv. no. 1892), will be part of the exhibition ‘Rubens a Palazzo Te. Painting, Transformation and Freedom’, to be held at the Palazzo Te in Mantua (Italy) from 7th October 2023 to 7th January 2024.

International Conference: Court culture exchanges between the Iberian Peninsula and the Habsburg Netherlands (15th – 16th Centuries)

This Conference is organized in collaboration among the Instituto Moll, the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos in Madrid and the University of Silesia in Katowice. The aim of this conference is to analyse the cultural relationships between the evolved between Iberian and the Netherlandish courts during the late fifteenth century and on throughout the sixteenth century.

This conference will be held from 25th to 27th October 2023 in Aranjuez, Edificio de Pavía, Campus of the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos.
