Forthcoming publication: Annales d’Histoire de l’Art et d’Archéologie. Cahiers d’études, 13

This volume brings together several papers presented at the first international study day jointly organized by the Fondation Périer-D’Ieteren (Brussels) and the Instituto Moll (Madrid). The event took place within the framework of the Flemish Art in Spain project, launched in 2020 by the two institutions, whose aim is to catalogue works from the Low Countries, produced between the fifteenth and eighteenth centuries, that are currently preserved in Spain.

Focusing on painting, the present volume examines the circulation of works of art, artists, and stylistic influences.

The submission deadline has been extended. Call for Papers: Cultural Crossroads. Artistic Encounters between the Low Countries and Spain in the 15th-17th Centuries. III- Echoes of Flemish Sculpture in Spain, from Gothic to Baroque

Since 2020, the Instituto Moll and the Fondation Périer-D’Ieteren have been studying artistic exchanges between the Low Countries and Spain. This third study day will focus on Flemish sculpture and its influence in Spain, and it will be held in the above mentioned foundation, in Brussels, on 28 November 2025.

Deadline for proposals: 4 July 2025. The proceedings will be published in the Cahiers d'étude series of Annales d'Histoire de l'Art et d'Archéologie.

Cultural Crossroads. Artistic Encounters between the Low Countries and Spain, 15th-17th Centuries. III- Echoes of Flemish Sculpture in Spain from Gothic to Baroque

On November 28, 2025, a conference dedicated to Flemish sculpture and its influence in Spain 
will take place in Brussels. Promoted by the Périer-D'Ieteren Foundation (Brussels) and the Instituto Moll (Madrid).

Until next June 6, proposals can be submitted from those who wish to contribute with their communications, which will last around 15-20 minutes and may be presented in Spanish, English or French.

Series of lectures at the Museo Nacional del Prado: Caravaggio and the painting of naturalism

Next Wednesday, 21 May, at 6:30 p.m., the director of the Instituto Moll, Ana Diéguez-Rodríguez, will give the lecture Rubens and Caravaggio. The encounter of two geniuses, at the Museo Nacional del Prado on the occasion of the lecture series: Caravaggio and the painting of naturalism.

The influence that the art of Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio (1571-1610) exerted on the Europe of his time was decisive for the development of a new pictorial concept at the dawn of the 17th century, naturalism.
